GCP Instance Scheduling

Hi,

The way I see us using Matillion, at least in the short to medium term, is that it will run schedules overnight, and then *might* be used during the day for ad-hoc or development tasks. We would like to save money by having it off when its not used. This might change in future, but we're a way off that yet.

So I'd like to have 2 GCP schedules set up - one to turn on Matillion for a period overnight, and one to shut it down at 6pm each day (in case I've been using it and forgotten to).

GCP instance scheduling only allows for one instance schedule to be created - I was wondering if anyone had any tricks or CRON scripts or whatever to make this more flexible?

I can't imagine my use-case is unique?

Thanks,

Hi Rob, we use something called ParkMyCloud which allows you to switch on and off in 15 minute chunks. See https://www.parkmycloud.com/about/ although it costs the costs are fairly small and there is a free option if your company allows it

Thats really useful, thanks! Will look into it.
