The simple answer is yes, Matillion can help.

 

I imagine you would load data from Datastage into an IDM Db2 database, is that correct? Or do you load it somewhere else?

 

Basically, if you load it into IBM Db2 or any other supported database / data warehouse, Matillion ETL will be able to migrate it from there to an Oracle database using a combination of the Database Query connector and Oracle Output connector.

would load to oracle. We have around 5000 files that we load daily to oracle through database and everything is on premises.

Can matellion help us in getting this .. we are thinking to replace the etl tool but rest remains same as input and output cannot be touched.

 

Questions

1. Can matellion read data from in house servers. ?

2. And write to in house oracle dB?

3. Or these files have to sent to cloud for faster processing ?

  1. Yes, Matillion can read data from in-house / on-premise servers.
  2. Yes, Matillion can also write to in-house / on-premise servers.
  3. In our pattern, files will be staged in a storage bucket (temporarily) and loaded into a Cloud Data Warehouse for orchestration and transformation.

Is number 3 a mandatory one ? I am new to mayltellion so apologies. Can you elaborate or point me to some documentation that can help me better understand as well.

Our stage and load pattern is somewhat mandatory in that a cloud data warehouse is required to use Matillion.

Files can be staged and stored in a storage bucket, but a data warehouse is used for orchestration and transformation.
