I tried to run through it but got increasingly frustrated as it was clear that Matillion had been updated so many times since the instructions were put together, that they'd become incorrect.
I also suspect the BigQuery version is more affected by this than the others. I gave up in level 2 - section 3 - where it became impossible.
Someone in Matillion needs to go through these courses regularly. In fact they should be using them in-house to train their own new starts.
A shame, because it got off to a good start and I was enjoying it before it became impossible to proceed.
I am really sorry to hear this, but I am glad you have fed it back to us, I will be more than happy to pass this onto the Matillion Academy team for you, is there any specifics you can share that have caused this and I can let them know?
The first thing that I noticed, in the "how to complete the training" is that it says "We recommend a Large or XLarge instance to access all features." - we only have Medium as it suits our needs so far. Does the training call out when something isn't possible in a Medium instance?
OK so I've run through it again until the point that I got stuck.
In "Load Multiple Flights Data Files Using the Fixed Iterator Component", it says to use the pattern setting in the S3 load component. However I am using the Cloud Storage Load component and it doesn't have a pattern setting available - and the instructions don't give an alternative method for doing this.
I am going through Documentation and came across typos, text duplicates, some video in Transformation component sections are private. I am aware Matillion Documention is changing, hope above mentioned errors will be fixed.
I have spoken further with the Academy team in relation to your post and we would like to check which specific part of the course you're blocked.
In Level 2 - Section 3 of our training course "Building a Data Warehouse using Matillion" we use Transaction components.
This course is one of the most important courses we have at Matillion Academy, so we would like to explore if the reasons why you are blocked are related to your own instance of Matillion ETL or it is something specific to our course that we need to adapt/extend to work with Google BigQuery.

We provide a note on the Academy for our Google BigQuery product (see green box below). Please, also find below a screenshot where you can check how the variable name can be added to the 'Google Storage URL Location' property of the 'Cloud Storage Load' component.

I did this whole thing twice to make sure I wasn't missing anything, or wasting your time, so I would suggest its not obvious enough for a normal person! The screen you're showing me, is from section 1.... I'm on the second part of section 2 which only shows this - that is why i was confused. Everywhere else in the course up to that point, the guidance is on the same screen you're on.
