Snowflake in Matillion can't reach key vault (CMK provider) for the Tri-secret

Hello Matillion Users,

 

Every once in a while, Matillion isn't able to run any snowflake queries. The error seem to be caused by snowflake/Matillion not being able reach keyvault of snowflake Tri-secret for data encryption.

 

error message: Error received from the customer-managed key (CMK) provider: 'java.net.UnknownHostException: {keyvault url}'

 

The error is rare and transient but it is enough to disrupt our loading process.

 

Problem seem to happen only when trying to connect from Matillion. Matillion support suggested that it is because we have our (CMK) customer managed key saved in a different Azure subscription. However I am not sure because I am assuming it is snowflake only that tries to connect to this Azure Key vault.

 

I am wondering if anyone else have faced this issue?
