At times the validation of a stage or the testing of schedule can take a really long time. 1-2 minutes even. I've noticed this even when there are zero to few other jobs running. Where could I start looking to help explain why the validation is taking so long?

the duration of the validation variates on how heavy the validation process is and most of the cost goes when there are complex transformations involved. ( Multi-step transformations / Orchestration job with several orchestrations/transformations below, it will scan through them all )
I have not noticed any unusual validation duration increase, going with the latest version(1.63.4) of Matillion on AWS/Snowflake.

I am also facing the same issue , Never validate the job and trying to delete the job but the METL getting hang up . I have a simple job with SFDC component but still validation not completing .
The resolution to issue was we were missing some AWS IAM permissions. If you go to: Project > Manage Credentials within that popup there is a test button that will ensure you're setup correctly. For me the Redshift API test was failing and once we got the permissions fixed, it resolved the validation lag.
