Best way to install Matillion ETL for Snowflake/AWS - Had many problems

After using the Snowflake Partner Connect trial, I was pleased how easy it was to get up and running. Since I have limited time, I opted to go to the Matillion Hub and install Matillion ETL for Snowflake into my company's AWS environment.

I used the published AMI "matillion-etl-for-snowflake-ami-1.56.9-billing-06-10-2021-13h-26m" to install this and have had problems at every step.

I should note I am NOT an AWS administrator, and my company does not have one. I have basic experience in Linux/AWS console and was able to follow Matillion/AWS instructions verbatim. After getting the port settings correct in the AWS security group, my issues are mainly around connecting (and staying connected) to the UI. When my browser actually reaches the UI, it has 10-20 seconds before losing its connection. I have worked with Matillion support who have been helpful and professional, but I've only gotten so far as being able to ssh into the instance to retrieve the catalina log files for the support person to review. That task was not easy either.... having to copy and change ownership of log files was not what I expected to get this up and running.

Given that I've been at this 5 days, and I am just getting started with Matillion, is there an easier method to get a standalone, non-trial instance? Is using the CloudFormation template easier than AMI?

All I know is that the Snowflake Partner Connect version was up and running in 1 minute and I have no issues with the temporary work I've created there.

Frustrated.
